True Positive
A result that correctly identifies a real issue. The true positive rate is the core measure of a tool's usefulness.
What it means
A true positive is a finding that reflects a genuine problem. Counting them against the total number of known issues gives you a detection rate.
Why it matters
Detection rate and false positive rate have to be read together. A tool that flags everything has a perfect detection rate and is useless.
