False Positive
A result that flags an issue which is not actually a problem. High false positive rates train users to ignore output.
What it means
A false positive is a finding that turns out not to be a real problem. Every automated tool produces some. The question is how many, and whether the noise drowns the signal.
Why it matters
Once a team stops trusting the output, the tool stops being useful no matter how many real issues it also catches.
